Sweeney’s credits include the Emmy winning series Euphoria, the Oscar nominated ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, the Sundance ‘19 favorite and Hulu Original BIG TIME ADOLESCENCE and the Golden Globe winning series The Handmaid’s Tale. She will next be seen in the Amazon Original thriller THE VOYEURS.

Recently, Sweeney announced she is about to start filming Mike White’s HBO limited series The White Lotus alongside Connie Britton and Alexandra Daddario. She will also be starring alongside chart-topping singer-songwriter Halsey and executive producing the upcoming TV series The Players Table with her Fifty-Fifty Films banner. Award-winning director Annabelle Attanasio will helm and Academy Award nominated director Jean-Marc Vallée is onboard as an executive producer.
SILVER STAR is the story of an unlikely couple, Buddy, a 20y.o. fresh out of jail, and Franny (Sydney Sweeney), a pregnant 19 y.o. with nothing to lose. After his botched robbery attempt at the bank that foreclosed on Buddy’s childhood home, he abducts her, starting an unexpected journey together.
Casting is underway for the male lead role and filming is scheduled for early 2021 in the US.

SILVER STAR is an original screenplay and will be directed by award-winning writer/director Ruben Amar who is producing under his banner Les Films de la Fusée with award-winning producer Lola Bessis, Virginie Lacombe of Virginie Films and Jamin O’Brien of The Community.

Amar and Bessis wrote, produced and directed together SXSW’13 SWIM LITTLE FISH SWIM; Lacombe produced 2019 Cannes Film Festival Certain Regard critically acclaimed PORT AUTHORITY and co-produced 2017 Cannes Director’s Fortnight Imogen Poots and Callum Turner’s MOBILE HOMES; O’Brien executive produced EIGHT GRADE which won AFI Awards Movie of the Year in 2019 and earned a Golden Globe Best Actress nomination for Elsie Fisher.

“Sydney is an extraordinary actress who brings nuance and subtlety to each character she embodies. Her talent will allow her to metamorphose, with grace and talent into the very complex multifaceted Franny,” said director Ruben Amar.

Virginie Films and The Film Community announced today that award-winning actress Sydney Sweeney is attached to lead feature film, drama SILVER STAR directed by Ruben Amar.

Sweeney is represented by Paradigm, Imprint PR and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.
