During the American Film Market (AFM) Wizart announced its new agreements and The Snow Queen franchise premieres. The first movie of the Sheep and Wolves franchise, whose premiere took place in April 2016, was of particular interest.
Wizart has concluded an agreement with the distribution company VERCINE (The House of Magic, Maggie) for The Snow Queen 2 distribution in Spain. Russian animated movie is going to have a wide release in January 2017 already. It will be shown on 120 Spanish screens and even in three languages: Spanish or Castilian, Catalan and Basque.
“We’ve been closely watching Wizart and The Snow Queen success all over the world and we didn’t have a slightest doubt that Spanish children would love the feature as well. And we are very happy that they’ll be able to watch it in cinemas during the wintertime! We believe that our partnership with Wizart will be a long-standing one and we’ll definitely keep an eye on their new releases as Wizart always delivers a high-quality product in terms of storyline and animation itself. In Spain we’ll be distributing The Snow Queen 2 in three languages: Spanish or Castilian, Basque and Catalan which will, beyond any doubt, bring even bigger audience and contribute to the box-office and develop the franchise,” Ignacio Puebla, the VERCINE president, said.
Koch Media, a large distributor in the German territory, has acquired the rights for the animated movie Sheep and Wolves to provide the Home Entertainment release in Germany, Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Luxembourg and South Tyrol. The release is planned to take place in January 2017. "We are glad to have finalized our first deal with Wizart on Sheep and Wolves. Seeing the quality of the product Wizart has brought forth so far, we are very much looking forward to working together on the upcoming Sheep and Wolves franchise".
Blitz, a large distributor, has acquired the rights to release the third Snow Queen franchise movie in the movie theaters. In December 2016, the animated movie will be premiered in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania – at the same time as the Russian premiere.
ADS Service, a Hungarian company, has also acquired the exhibition rights for Sheep and Wolves. The release in all the Hungarian movie theatres is planned for the New Year’s vacation in January 2017.
Zylo, a French distributor, has acquired the rights for the animated movie Fantastic Journey to Oz to provide the Home Entertainment release in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Andorra and Luxembourg.
Animated movie «Sheep and Wolves» and the third part of The Snow Queen franchise «The Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice» will be widely released in Latin America. Wizart has signed an agreement with one of the leading independent film distributors - California Films (The Neon Demons, MA MA, The Beauty and the Beast, New York, I love you, Hayao Miyazaki animated movies, Lars fon Trier films). The release is scheduled for mid year of 2017, when there will be a wintertime on the continent. Winter is the best time to watch animated features with snowy scenes.
One more important agreement made during the AFM is the first deal with a Scandinavian country – Denmark – for the Sheep and Wolves project. The distributor said: “The partnership with Wizart is a kind of an experiment for us, but we are certain that audiences will like Sheep and Wolves because it is a high quality product.
“We make high quality animated feature movies. Our partners’ loyalty is a proof that the interest in the franchise The Snow Queen and the new project Sheep and Wolves is growing – the movies are entering new territories and have success there, and the audience is proportionally growing. That’s why our work at the AFM is very important – we can learn more about new movies, speak about the Wizart products and find prospective distributors in new territories,” Yuri Moskvin, Wizart General Producer, commented on Wizart’s participation in the AFM.
