“Beyond Borders” 8th International Documentary Festival in Castellorizo (August 20-27) is inviting documentary filmmakers from all over the world to submit their films to the competition for 2023.

Greek and World Premieres at the 6th “Beyond Borders” International Documentary Festival of Castellorizo island (August 22-29)


A celebration of cinema and culture will be set up for the 6th consecutive year on the idyllic island of Castellorizo, Greece. The 6th "Beyond Borders" International Documentary Festival which takes place under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou is to be held from August 22nd to August 29th and will make Castellorizo, the Aegean Island where Documentary film meets History & Culture once again. The following documentary films are set to have their Greek premiere at the competition section of the festival: High Maintenance (Israel) directed by Barak Heymann, A Black Jesus (Germany) directed by Luca Lucchesi, Can Art Stop a Bullet: William Kelly's Big Picture (Australia) directed by Mark Street, No more stories (France) directed by Ferhat Mouhali and Carole Filiu-Mouhali, Betrayal (Germany) directed by Scott Calonico, The Patriarch's Room (Canada) directed by Danae Elon, Dafa Metti (United Kingdom) directed by Tal Amiran, Sim-Patia (Spain) directed by Carlos Gómez-Mira Sagrado, The Lord of the Reef (Turkey) directed by Mert Gοkalp, From Here (USA) directed by Christina Antonakos-Wallace, Dat's real good? (France) directed by Marc Faye and While We Live (Netherlands & Greece) directed by Andrea Voets and Myrto Papadogeorgou whereas the documentary film The Eternal Wound (Castellorizo, Greece) directed by Dean Kennedy is set to have its World premiere.
Furthermore Enough! (Australia – Greek premiere) directed by Daizy Gedeon which was recently awarded at the Cannes Film Festival will be screened at the Panorama (non-competition section) of the festival.


Beyond Borders is organized by the Hellenic History Foundation, in co-organization with Ecrans des Mondes (Paris). The Festival is sponsored and/or supported by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hellenic Ministry of Νational Defence, the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Secretariat General for the Aegean and Island Policy, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hellenic Parliament, the Region of South Aegean, the Municipality of Megisti, the Embassy of Australia in Athens, the U.S. Embassy in Athens, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Athens, the Embassy of Cyprus in Athens, the Embassy of Spain in Athens, the Cervantes Institute in Athens, the Italian Cultural Institute in Athens, the Czech Centre in Athens, EKOME, the Greek Film Center and ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation).
