32 films make up the Official Section of Punto de Vista 2021
The Official Section of the fifteenth edition of the Punto de Vista festival, to be held from 15th to 20th March 2021, consists of thirty-two films from twenty countries. The selection, from over 900 films entered, includes 6 features and 26 shorts.
This year the Official Section at Punto de Vista is to be organised in 10 programmes screening films that explore a wide variety of topics, from observations of everyday domestic life, landscape and psychogeographies to reflections on history, gender violence or composers of experimental music. There will also be films that stand out for their use of photographic and document archives. The Official Section is programmed by Nuria Cubas, María Palacios, Matías Piñeiro, Miguel Zozaya and Garbiñe Ortega.
The films were selected from among over 900 entries and come from countries like Nigeria, India, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium and Mexico, among others. All of them are true to the spirit with which the festival started out, capturing reality from their necessary, independent point of view.
This year, Punto de Vista 2021 sees the return of film-makers who have already taken part in previous editions: Ana Vaz (winner of the Punto de Vista grand prize for best film last year with her work “Apiyemiyekî?”), Morgan Quaintance (“Early years”, 2020), Eva Giolo (“A Tongue Called Mother”, 2020), Jorge Moneo (“Orbainak”, 2019), Ute Aurand (“Lisa”, 2019) as well as being one of those involved in the publication last year of “Meditaciones sobre el presente. Ute Aurand, Helga Fanderl, Jeannette Muñoz y Renate Sami”, Mike Hoolboom was also selected in 2017 for the Official Section with his piece “We Make Couples” and Miranda Pennel (winner of the Punto de Vista grand prize for best film in 2017 with “The Host”).
