From Thursday 7 to Friday 15 April 2022, the Movies that Matter Festival will host its Industry Days, presenting a lineup of talks, panels and masterclasses addressing urgent and relevant issues from around the world by giving a platform to filmmakers, activists and other changemakers to share their stories and experiences. This year’s programme presents a variety of events on topics such as Film & ImpactAfghanistanGreen FilmmakingPress Freedom and Women in Film. With last year’s very first edition of the industry programme running online only, this will be the festival’s very first industry event taking place both on-site in The Hague and online through the festival website.

Emma Romeijn, Industry Producer for the Movies that Matter Festival: “We are very excited to welcome people in The Hague for the very first on-site Industry Days. However, to keep our content accessible for our community and audiences worldwide, we have decided that all programmes will also be available online. Throughout the Industry Days our main focus will be on creating impact as Movies that Matter believes that film and stories have the power to bring about change. We are grateful to all filmmakers and partners participating, with whom we've been able to put together such an extensive programme!

The Industry Days will welcome guests such as Think-Film CEO Danielle Turkov, who will deliver a keynote on Film & Impact, renowned director Mijke de Jong and award winning screenwriter Jolein Laarman to talk about their latest film ‘Along the Way’, the Myanmar Film Collective and producer Corinne van Egeraat to discuss their documentary ‘Myanmar Diaries’ (pictured) and filmmakers Sahra Mani, Aboozar Amini and Dawood Hilmandi, who will addresses the challenges and difficulties of being an Afghan filmmaker in a talk moderated by IDFA’s Artistic Director Orwa Nyrabia. Together with Free Press Unlimited and the research team Save the World, Movies that Matter presents a panel discussion on journalism and press freedom. On top of that, the festival selected 12 projects for its Take on Film & Impact programme, who will pitch to a panel of NGOs, sales agents and other changemakers.

The Movies that Matter Industry programme is accessible for anyone with an industry accreditation (€ 25) or a press pass (free of charge). For people attending the programme remotely, the industry sessions will be made available online after 24 hours.  From 7 - 9 April the events will be streamed live.
