impACT | Big Data Meets Hollywood - Protecting Privacy and Unlocking Innovation

Today, data plays a role in any successful business, studio or film. Responsible and ethical data use can help the creative industries drive great impact - both social and economic - but data needs to be trusted. How can the film industry strike the right balance in responsible data use and insights? And what do professionals need to know about consumer expectations and policy moves that will dictate how they can use data responsibly today and in the future? At this session, we will examine how data and protecting privacy is critical to industry success, learn about the shifting global power dynamics that are changing the rules, and understand how studios are creatively engaging data across film lifecycles.

International Film Finance Forum Cannes

The world is opening back up, deals can be made in person again; so how do we navigate in an industry that lost all in-person activity and relied almost completely on the virtual world? Productions are moving forward, and we want to know how those deals were closed, who to look out for in the market and what distribution will look like now. Consumers want to be entertained in new and exciting ways and we are eager to learn about how to keep audiences interested in this post-COVID world. We’ve seen an increase in engagement with documentaries, untold stories, and local language content from around the world. It is the time to explore new facets of the industry and further explore the use of multi-purpose platforms. We will hear from our elite speakers on their thoughts about the re-emergence of live aspects of our industry, and all the new and exciting trends to look forward to in 2021 and beyond.
