Voltage Picture's BEAUTIFUL DISASTER Wraps Production

Writer/Director Roger Kumble (Cruel Intentions, After We Collided) has wrapped principal photography on the latest YA adaption from Voltage Pictures, Beautiful Disaster, starring Dylan Sprouse (After We Collided, Banana Split), Virginia Gardner (Halloween, Marvel’s “Runaways”), Austin North (“Outer Banks”), Libe Barer (“Sneaky Pete”) and Rob Estes (the After series), it was announced today by President and COO Jonathan Deckter.

Rising stars Sprouse and Gardner shared the announcement on YouTube ...

Bad-boy Travis (Sprouse) is exactly what college freshman Abby (Gardner) needs and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights fighting in underground boxing matches, and his days as the ultimate college campus playboy. But Abby wants nothing to do with Travis. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis offers her a simple bet: if he loses his next fight, he must remain sex-free for a month. If he wins, Abby must live in his apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that Abby’s dark past is about to emerge, and he may have finally met his match.

Sprouse built a legion of fans as a young actor, and after stepping away from Hollywood to pursue higher education, he graduated from NYU in 2015 and returned to acting. He recently starred in the Chinese fantasy romance Turandot, and the romantic comedy Banana Split as well as cult favorite After We Collided. Sprouse also created and wrote Suneater which recently released in comic book format.

Gardner is known for playing Karolina Dean in the Hulu original series Marvel’s “Runaways,” Vicky in David Gordon Green’s wildly successful horror film “Halloween” and as Christina Raskin in Paramount’s Project Almanac.

Social media sensation North has appeared in Netflix’s smash-hit YA series “Outer Banks,” Hulu’s “All Night” and the smash-hit Disney Channel series “I Didn’t Do It”.

Barer is known for her roles in the Amazon Prime series “Sneaky Pete” and “Colony” and Saban’s “I See You” opposite Helen Hunt.

Estes appeared in Roger Kumble’s After We Collided and is known for his roles in popular TV series including “Silk Stalkings,” “Melrose Place” and “90210.”

McGuire paved the way for the New Adult genre with the international bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Her follow-up novel, Walking Disaster, debuted at #1 on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. Beautiful Oblivion, book one of the Maddox Brothers series, also topped the New York Times bestseller list. In 2015 and 2016, the following three Maddox Brothers books, Beautiful Redemption, Beautiful Sacrifice and Beautiful Burn also topped the New York Times, as well as Beautiful series novellas, A Beautiful Wedding and Something Beautiful. The fifth Maddox Brothers Series novel, A Beautiful Funeral, debuted at #4 on the New York Times, also making appearances on the USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.

Brian Pitt, Jonathan Deckter and Mark Clayman produced the film. Executive producers are Nicolas Chartier, Lucas Jarach and Jamie McGuire.  Beautiful Disaster was shot entirely on location in Bulgaria. Voltage Pictures is handling worldwide sales.

The teen pic is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Jamie McGuire, which has been published and translated in 38 countries, and topped the bestseller’s list in Brazil, Italy, France, Spain, Australia and the UK.

Voltage has emerged as an industry leader in the YA romance space; After starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford, took over $70M worldwide in 2019 and its sequels, After We Collided took over $50M when it opened from September 2nd 2020 during the pandemic, and the latest in the series After We Fell is set to pass $40 million after being released on September 3rd 2021. The highly anticipated fourth film After Ever Happy is set to be released in 2022. Voltage also sold-out worldwide rights on the best-selling YA novel adaptation Words on Bathroom Walls, starring Charlie Plummer, Andy García, Taylor Russell, AnnaSophia Robb, Molly Parker and Walton Goggins which was released theatrically in August 2020. The company also sold international rights on the heartwarming romances Finding You, which was filmed in Ireland and stars Katherine McNamara (“Shadow Hunters”), Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do) and Vanessa Redgrave (Atonement), which was released May 14th, and Time Is Up, starring social media sensation Bella Thorne (“Screen: The TV series”, Midnight Sun) and Italian popstar Benjamin Mascolo.
