One of the most anticipated films in this year's Cannes Film Festival is Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. One of the reasons for this great anticipation is that this film is the opening film for the festival. Since the premier screening of the movie was practically impossible to obtain tickets for, I managed to get tickets for the second screening at 11pm.
Even though the screening was quite late, there were still thousands of people showed up to see the film. The theatre was almost completely filled at 10:50 and everyone seems so anxious to experience this cinematic adventure.
I do not want to spoil the movie for those who have yet to see it, but I must say that the movie is quite differnt from what you might expect after watching the trailer. The trailer does an amazing job of keeping the most intriguing part of the movie in secret while still being able to give the viewers a sweet taste of Midnight in Paris. The first part of the movie was extremely brilliant, with the twists and turns. The second half was a bit dull and long.
One of the greatest parts of this film is the casting. Every actor and actress in the movie seems to fit perfectly in the role. Mrs. Sarkozy--- Carla Bruni was also quite impressive in the film.
This is one of the best in Woody Allen's recent films. I would recommend this movie, especially if you love the city of Paris.
