Programme line-up for the 26th TEDDY AWARD 17 February 2012 9pm Tempelhof Airport, Berlin
On 17 February 2012, the world's most prestigious queer film prize, the TEDDY AWARD, will be presented at Tempelhof Airport as part of the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival.TEDDY AWARDs will honour the films chosen as best feature film, best documentary / film essay and best short film.
This year two Special TEDDY AWARDs will grace the stage.In recognition of their lifetime achievements, awards will be presented to the exceptional German film director and highly avant-garde artist Ulrike Ottinger and to the pioneering drag superstar, blueprint and inspiration for generations of superstars who followed, Mario Montez. Both artists are expert at playing with identities and inspirational emancipatory icons of the cinematic world.
Boasting an attractive queer line-up, the TEDDY AWARD ceremony promises an evening of sparkling entertainment.The gala event will be hosted by Jochen Schropp, actor and TV host, familiar to German audiences as the presenter of the successful TV talent show X Factor.Jochen Schropp was nominated in 2010 and 2011 for the German TV Prize in the category of best entertainer and in 2007 was nominated for another TV award, the Grimme Prize.
The well-known vocalist Marianne Rosenberg whose repertoire spans many genres recently toured successfully with her new album "Regenrhythmus" [rhythm of rain]. Which of her many songs she will choose for her TEDDY performance remains a closely guarded secret.Non-conformist electropop is the trademark of French duo Stereo Total. Their gala performance and late night concert is sure to delight with a mixture of underground chic and discreet glamour.The Canadian electroclash icon Peaches is confrontational, explicit and direct.This artist known for her tough image and aggressive stage presence deliberately crosses conventional boundaries in her physically demanding performances. Her gala appearance is guaranteed to be explosive.
The evening's gala will be recorded by the Franco-German TV channel arte for broadcast on 18 February. Berlin's regional broadcaster rbb will show the TEDDY AWARD gala a day later on 19 February.
