The SIGGRAPH 2007 Computer Animation Festival and Art Gallery will feature 51 California filmmakers and artists in its programs, both part of the 34th International Conference on Computer Graphics & Interactive Techniques being held 5-9 August 2007 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.
The SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival is internationally recognized as the world's premier event for computer graphics and animation. Groundbreaking films presented at the Computer Animation Festival have amazed audiences for three decades. Since 1999, the festival has also been an official qualifying event for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences "Best Animated Short Film" award.
Of the 51 domestic entries chosen for the Computer Animation Festival, 35 are from California filmmakers. In fact, San Diego's own film director, Michael McCormick will be featured in his work "Paraworld", a fully 3D game cinematic and trailer for Sunflowers/SEK's Paraworld.
The SIGGRAPH 2007 Art Gallery: Global Eyes will showcase artwork that illuminates the role the digital media plays in shaping, extending, and reflecting world views and cosmologies. Of the 91 domestic entries chosen for Global Eyes, 26 artists are from California, 24 of whom are from the Southern California area. California artists are featured in all aspects of the Art Gallery, including:

-- 5 of the 8 domestic Art Panels
-- 4 of the 7 domestic Digital Performances
-- 5 of the 18 Installations
To add even more of a local California touch to SIGGRAPH 2007, Global Eyes will offer attendees the extraordinary opportunity to visit the California Institute for Telecommunications Information Technology (Cal-IT2) and the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA) at the University of California - San Diego. Cal-IT2 and CRCA are providing their innovative, state-of-the-art facility to house the Art Gallery performances and site-specific installations during a special weekend event from 4-6 August. Buses will be available between the San Diego Convention Center and CAL-IT2.
SIGGRAPH 2007 will bring an estimated 25,000 computer graphics and interactive technology professionals from six continents to San Diego, California, USA for the industry's most respected technical and creative programs focusing on research, science, art, animation, gaming, interactivity, education, and the web from 5-9 August 2007 at the San Diego Convention Center. SIGGRAPH 2007 includes a three-day exhibition of products and services from the computer graphics and interactive marketplace from 7-9 August 2007.
