Zombies invade the Wild WestThe West is about to get wilder. Zombie Western Bullets for the Dead is primed to start principal photography 17th November.
From the Australian producers of Iron Sky and The Time Guardian, this is a film about a hardened bounty hunter James Dalton (Christopher Sommers), a gang of outlaws in his trust led by Annie Blake (Vanessa Moltzen), and a preacher who are forced to work together and battle their way across the American west of the 1870s when the zombie apocalypse begins.
The film is based on an original 3 minute short from the Griffith Film School (GFS) grad films of 2011, overseen by artist in residence and Spanish director Alberto Sciamma (The Killer Tongue/La Lengua Asesina). Seeing its feature film potential, Alberto pitched to friend and sales agent Michael Cowan, Visionquest Entertainment picked it up to produce and GFS pitched in with a facilities deal.
Bullets for the Dead blends the guilt and redemption of the traditional western with all you would expect of a rollicking zombie film. It will be shot in and around South East Queensland across November/December.
Bullets for the Dead is a Visionquest Entertainment International production in association with the Griffith Film School, Screen Queensland, GSP Distribution and Premiere Picture. Producers are Cathy Rodda and Norm Wilkinson, Creative Director/Producer Alberto Sciamma, Executive Producers Alan Latham, Pat Laughren and Michael Cowan, Written and Directed by Joshua C Birch and Michael Du-Shane. International Sales by Phoenix Worldwide Entertainment. ANZ distribution by VE Distribution with Backlot Studios. 09.11.2014 | American Film Market Dailies's blog Cat. : FILM
