50 Cent in Aruba!Last night Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson appeared at the Aruba International Film Festival to premier his new film THINGS FALL APART (2011). Exuberant crowds surged into the Paseo Herencia to catch sight of the singer/actor. Some of the world’s most prestigious press outlets gathered on the red carpet to interview 50 Cent as he made his way into the theater for his film’s world premier. When I interviewed 50 Cent on the red carpet he smiled his million-dollar smile and answered with focused conviction. ME: Hi, 50 Cent. I’m Vanessa McMahon with FilmFestivals.com. I’d like to ask you a few questions now before our one on one interview tomorrow. One question I have for you is your title- THINGS FALL APART. Is there any reference to the Nobel prize winning author Chinue Achebe’s book THINGS FALL APART or to the poem which Achebe took the phrase from- THE SECOND COMING by W.B. Yeats? 50 CENT: No No. Absolutely not. Actually, they might have a problem with me using the title for this film but I used creatively what I came up with because the film is about the anticipation of success and disappointment. You’ll see later on. I’ll give you the flyer of what I wrote for it. But the actual film everybody around him feels like he’s gonna’ win and everything starts to spin out of control based on that. People tend to do you a favor fast and they expect a bigger favor in return and in THINGS FALL APART it gets a little difficult for him. ME: What made you so passionate to want to invest your own money in this film? 50 CENT: Because of my best friend. I wouldn’t have actually made this film if a major studio had been behind me. When Tom Hanks makes a visible transformation or Christian Bale or Bob De Niro in RAGING BULL type thing, usually the budget allows them to break for a larger period of time for them to make this transformation and to come back. But with us, there was no time and no money, no budget for that so the way to make this was the film had to happen quickly or the movie doesn’t work. So, we had to deal with that. And this is probably one of the most prepared projects I’ve ever performed in. I had to be tied to the project the entire time. I shot the first six days and then went away for the entire nine weeks not eating, just going on the actual stages of the film till going on the last half of the film. ME: Well, thank you very much. Good luck with the film and can’t wait to see it. 50 CENT: Your welcome. Hope you enjoy it. STAY TUNED FOR ONE ON ONE INTEVIEW WITH 50 CENT coming soon!!!
