The Sixth DOC NYC Festival Opening Night U.S. Premiere of MISS SHARON JONES! music documentary by two-time Academy award winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple, Lifetime Achievement recipient, 2015 DOC NYC, was held at SVA theater, New York, Thursday, November 12, 2015. A special Q&A discussion with director Kopple, Grammy Award nominee singer Miss Jones and the Dap-Kings band moderated by artistic director Thom Powers, DOC NYC, preceded the opening night gala reception. Red carpet arrivals included acting commissioner Luis Castro, Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, celebrity guests, crew and cast members.
