The 28th Annual 2008 CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival(CMJ08), the largest international new music discovery event was held at venues throughout New York City, October 21-28, 2008. The outstanding festival presented by XBOX 360, Zune, and Doritos, showcased music marathon, film festival, exhibit hall, panel discussions, seminars, comedy shows, special events, parties, concerts, and awards ceremony. This year, over 1000 artists performed at 70 venues throughout New York. CMJ08 attendees included artists, DJs, producers, promoters, remixers, college radio programmers, and industry professionals from all over the world. 

CMJ08 Opening Night "Media Meet-n-Greet presented by Experience Music Project, The Bloom Effect, and Ariel Hyatt Cyber PR with DJ O of THE BEATARDS spinning Hip-Hop, Rock, and Pop was held at Sutra, Tuesday, October 21, 5:00 PM. Attendees included recording artists, DJs, producers, promoters and journalists.

INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS (IMA) @ CMJ08 showcased the 8th IMA winners at Kenny's Castaways, Thursday, October 23, 7:00PM. List of performing artists included Marco Benevento, Mudville, Jonah Smith, Jose Conde y Ola Fresca, Ari Gold and Animate Objects.
