The winners of the 18th edition of the RIFF - Rome Independent Film Festival have been announced at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila directed by Fabrizio Ferrari.
The jury that has had the important task of decreeing the winners this year is composed of Ukrainian journalist and film critic Nadia Zavarova, the German consultant for numerous international festivals Bernd Brehmer, the Romanian journalist and writer Tatiana Covor and the American musician and journalist - Argentine Diego Petrecolla, together with the Italians: composer Stefano Ratchev, screenwriter and director Salvatore Basile, actor and director Vincenzo Alfieri.
The jurors awarded the winners in the presence of Luca Bergamo, Deputy Mayor of Rome and Alessandro Haber, always attentive to independent cinema, and present at the RIFF this year with the documentary Màt Sicuri the last Diogene.
 
RIFF Award Best Film 2019 for the International Feature Section is 37 Seconds by the Japanese director Hikari, winner of the Panorama section at the Berlinale 2019, with the following motivation: “Japan. For internationals he wins the RIFF Award for Best International Documentary Dave Grusin: Not Bent of Enough Time by Barbara Bentree on the Oscar-winning composer of Tootsie, The Graduate and Milagro among others. Pastrone wins for Italian Documentaries! by Lorenzo De Nicola on the director of Cabiria.
 
International short films section, it is awarded ex aequo to Caesar by Mohamed Megdoul (France) with the motivation: “The conflict of the classic story perfectly transferred to modernity. The Festival's technical awards have also been announced. The short film Award for the best screenplay consisting of a contribution of 500 euros in money or goods and services for the development or realization of the winning project goes to Amie Bugie and Tarocchi by Roberto Ciotti.
