RAMEAU: HIPPOLYTE ET ARICIE BY ÓLAFUR ELíASSON

Hippolyte et Aricie takes us into a realm of wonders with magnificent dance and choir scenes and the greatest possible multitude of musical forms. The artist Ólafur Elíasson is responsible for set and costume design. In his art, he deconstructs natural phenomena and rethinks them with the help of colour, light, reflections and motion.

APPROACHING THE DESCENT INTO THE MAELSTROM

Norwegian film director Jan Vardoen discovered this wonderful piece by Philip Glass, which was more or less forgotten. This is the story of making an arrangement for the Arctic Philharmonic and the attempt to record the music in situ with all its trials and tribulations.

Classical Trancelations in Concert unites classical music and rave culture in an unprecedented way. This concert shows the world classics from Daft Punk, Tiesto, Pendulum, Robert Miles and Moby in a truly unique approach, resulting in a once-in-a-lifetime symphonic experience.

Forte is a feature-length documentary that tells the stories of three remarkable women who are pursuing their path in their own, unique ways.

GEORGES BIZET: CARMEN

In Stephan Märki's interpretation, Carmen is a woman who longs for death and stages sex as a weapon of power. In a world hungry for life, the power to seduce is a strength, but devotion brings downfall.

JINZI

Jinzi is an adaptation of the masterpiece “The Wilderness” written by the renowned Chinese playwright Cao Yu and tells the story of a love triangle and revenge, set in the early days of the Republic of China in the countryside. Jinzi was a milestone for modern Chinese Xiqu plays in the late 20th century and is a revered classic today.

FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC IN GEORGIA. THE PALIASHVILI MUSIC SCHOOL IN TBILISI

The violinist Lisa Batiashvili and pianist Khatia Buniatishvili were taught at Paliashvili Music School in Tbilisi. Nowadays students dream of such a success, their parents all the more so. The documentary presented by Accentus Music accompanies the students and their teachers over the course of one school year.

Presented by ARTE and SEPPIA, this Avant Première Talk introduces The "Art Stories 360°" series (4x6 min) which offers an immersive experience at the heart of the most beautiful sites that marked European art history.

DAS TOTALE TANZ THEATER – THE 360° MUSIC VIDEO

The question about the relationship between man and machine had been already asked by Bauhaus and becomes a 3-dimensional, audiovisual experience in this interactive virtual reality dance installation, presented by Interactive Media Foundation and ZDF/ARTE.

THE MIGRATION OF CONTENT CONSUMPTION

This talk by VeeR will give a comprehensive overview of the global VR industry and the landscape of VR content creation. Furthermore, the historical perspective of content consumption will be assessed and the impact of virtual reality on the entertainment industry analysed.

THE VIRTUAL KONZERTHAUS – OPPORTUNITIES FOR DIGITAL CULTURAL MEDIATION

The Konzerthaus Berlin became the first concert hall in Germany to open a digital exhibition, including the augmented reality app “Konzerthaus Plus” and virtual reality glasses and will share its exciting journey in this Avant Première Talk.

This Avant Première Talk presented by Kroma Productions is about using innovative technologies in order to create world class art, using the example of the extraordinary production “Mirages”. Mirages is innovative by nature - a production where the basis lies in music and the visual world is realised by using green screen, virtual studio and motion capture techniques.

TRIBUTES TO BEETHOVEN - A SERIES OF 32 SONATA FILMS

At the occasion of Beethoven’s 250th anniversary, 32 pianists from around the world team up with 32 filmmakers for an integral sonata as we have never seen or heard. Les Films D’ici and LOOKSfilm share the story of this imaginative approach with us.

ROMEO AND JULIET: THE STORY BEYOND WORDS

Directed and produced by International Emmy Award winners Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, Romeo and Juliet reinvents classical ballet for cinema audiences in the 21st Century. Co-Director of the Balletboyz Micheal Nunn will present privileged insights about this production.
