A Brief Review of the Premier of Ang Lee's "Taking Woodstock"With director Ang Lee and stars Emile Hirsch, Imelda Staunton and Demetri Martin present, the premier of "Taking Woodstock" last night was an event not to be missed. While the film's mixed reviews were nothing short of extraordinary, on the contrary the crowd's response to the film was a pleasant one. It could have been the fact that it was my first premier and I was not used to sitting in an tuxedo for two hours while watching a film on 1969's Woodstock, but it plainly did not hold my attention. It was not hard to watch as the characters were interesting and the scenery was pretty, but I have to agree with Entertainment Weekly's Lisa Schwarzbaum who deemed the film as "undergroovy and overplotted: Clean-cut, dutiful Eliot blisses out, and afterward finds the strength to break away from his damaged, damaging mama". 17.05.2009 | Cannes's blog Cat. : 2009 Ambiance Ang Lee Ang Lee Ang Lee cannes CDATA Demetri Martin Demetri Martin Director Emile Hirsch Emile Hirsch Entertainment Entertainment Weekly Entertainment Weekly Films Imelda Staunton Imelda Staunton Lisa Schwarzbaum New York Person Career premier Premier of Ang Lee Taking Woodstock Taking Woodstock Taking Woodstock With Woodstock Red carpet FILM FESTIVALS
