Among the many people who flock to the festival each year are film students hoping to get their foot a little father into the door.  Each year hundreds of film students apply to internships with various companies represented at the festival and the lucky ones are given an opportunity to expecience some of the magic and chaos of Cannes.  I spoke with a few such students who were excited to share their experience in Cannes thus far with filmfestivals.com. 

Christine Stilings studies film production at Chapman University in Orange, California however she has taken the past four months studying French here in Cannes and traveling in Europe and while she has loved that experience, she admits that what she has really been waiting for was the festival. Christine has an internship with Image Works Entertainment International, a distribution company based out of Los Angeles.  In just the past five days she has gained a solid and impressive understanding of how her company works and what its goals are for the festival.  At her first film market, she has also learned a lot about the distribution business in general and practical knowledge about how paperwork is filled out in the field.  Christine has clearly picked up a lot in a short period of time and credits this to her boss' willingness to help her learn the ropes.  In the next week, Christine is commited to absorbing as much as she can from the action packed festival and hopes she may even be able to land a ticket to a red carpet premier!
