Fantasporto Goes to Cannes to make an impressionOnce again, the Oporto Film Festival Fantasporto has decided to invest strongly in the promotion of the coming edition on the occasion of the 60th Cannes International Film Festival. 28 years already, Fantasporto aims, as usual, at bigger and better, and the Croisette is the right meeting place and a traditional focus for the film world. For the third time, Fantasporto is going to have its own booth in the Marché du Film at the Riviera Space. This is where Fantasporto will be searching for the interest of producers, distributors and directors. This is also the space to introduce to those who have never been there, the city where the festival is held - Oporto, an Unesco World Heritage City. The city of Portwine, the Clérigos Tower and the mouth of the River Douro is the perfect landscape for welcoming a film festival. Some areas in the Croisette will also receive posters advertising for the 28th edition of Oporto Internacional Film Festival. The Fantasporto Cannes campaign includes distribution of 20,000 postcards, leaflets, stickers and other promotional material in Cannes and at the Festivals Bureau in the Palais 23.11. The Oporto Film Festival, or Fantasporto as it is known, is the biggest and most prestigious film event in Portugal. It specializes in fantasy and science-fiction films in the main official Competitive section. The coming event, the 27th Oporto Festival, also includes the 17th Directors Week for general films, and the Orient Express, also official Competitions, as well as the Retrospective sectors. The Fantasy Competition, the Directors Week and the Orient Express are the traditional competitions of the festival for shorts and full length features. Also important is the Première sector for the latest features. The 28th edition has the high patronage of the Ministry of Culture through the Portuguese Film Institute - ICAM, as well as the support of the Oporto City Hall. The festival takes place at the Auditoriums of the RIVOLI THEATRE in the centre of the town. The prestigious SÁ DA BANDEIRA THEATRE will also have its own program and is the ideal setting for the closing BALL OF THE VAMPIRES. Other events will take place at the PRAÇA D. JOÃO I Pavilion. Exhibitions, media shows, workshops, discussions, lectures, books and DVD launchings are also part of the parallel program. The press coverage is made by all important newspapers and TV networks, a unique press coverage in Portugal. 100,000 entries is the average number in past editions of Fantasporto. 10.05.2007 | Cannes's blog Cat. : cannes Cannes Cannes Cannes Cannes Film Festival Europe fantasporto Fantasporto Fantasporto Film Geography of Europe Oporto Oporto City Porto Portugal Portwine Technology Technology the 60th Cannes The Fantasporto the Festival Guide The Oporto Film Festival the Orient Express the Pocket Guide United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage City FESTIVALS
