Films for May 16th- Day 3The following is a list of films featured in the Non-Competition Categories: Un Certain Regard, La Quinzaine des Realisateurs, and Semaine de la Critique. Un Certain Regard
La Chambre Bleue: - "Seriously, Julien, if I were suddenly free, could you free yourself too?"
La Quinzaine des Realisateurs
Catch Me Daddy: Laila, a girl on the run from her family is hiding out in West Yorkshire with her drifter boyfriend Aaron. When her brother arrives in town with a gang of thugs in tow, she is forced to flee for her life and faces her darkest night. Gett, le Proces de Viviane Amsalem: In Israel there is neither civil marriage nor civil divorce. Only rabbis can legitimate a marriage or its dissolution. But this dissolution is only possible with full consent from the husband, who in the end has more power that the judges. Viviane Amsalem has been applying for divorce for three years. But her husband Elisha will not agree. His cold intransigence, Viviane’s determination to fight for her freedom, and the ambiguous role of the judges shape a procedure in which tragedy vies with absurdity, and everything is brought out for judgment, apart from the initial request. Bande de filles: Oppressed by her family setting, dead-end school prospects and the boys law in the neighborhood, Marieme starts a new life after meeting a group of 3 free-spirited girls. She changes her name, her dress code, and quits school to be accepted in the gang, hoping that this will be a way to freedom. Semaine de la CritiquePiu Buio di Mezzanotte: Davide is different from the other teenagers. Something makes him look like a girl. Davide is fourteen when he runs away from home. His intuition leads him to choose Villa Bellini, a park in Catania, as a refuge. The park is a world in itself, a world of the marginalized, to which the rest of the city turns a blind eye. But one day the past catches up and Davide has to face the most difficult choice, this time alone. Self Made: Self Made tells the story of two women – one Israeli, the other Palestinian- who are trapped within their respective worlds. After a mix-up at a checkpoint, they find themselves living the life of the other on the opposite side of the border. FLA faire: L'amour: Laure is a stewardess who wants a child. Oussmane is a musician who wants to become famous. Kahina is a prisoner on leave for Christmas, who wants to see her son. They will meet, come together, support each other, and compete in the pursuit of their dreams. And together they will try to answer this question: How is love built? How does one love?
