WORLDVIEW ENTERTAINMENT HEATS UP Eli Roth’s THE GREEN INFERNO

Eli Roth to Direct New Horror Thriller that Exclusive Media will Offer to Buyers in Cannes

May 17, 2012 (CANNES, FRANCE) -- Worldview Entertainment, a New York City-based motion picture production and investment company, has signed on to finance and produce Eli Roth’s new horror thriller, “The Green Inferno.” Roth, who reignited the horror genre with the “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever” franchises, co-wrote the screenplay with “Aftershock” co-writer Guillermo Amoedo, from an original story by Roth. Roth will direct and produce the film alongside Worldview CEO, Christopher Woodrow, Worldview COO, Molly Conners, and Sobras International producers Miguel Asensio Llamas and Nicolás Lopez. Production will begin in the fall of 2012 in Peru and Chile, where Roth recently produced the earthquake thriller “Aftershock,” currently in post production. This will be Roth’s much anticipated directorial follow up to the enormously successful “Hostel” franchise, which collectively grossed over $300 million worldwide. Worldview’s Maria Cestone, Sarah Johnson Redlich and Hoyt David Morgan will executive produce.

Tobin Armbrust, President of Worldwide Production and Acquisition, picked up the film for Exclusive Media. Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s President of International Sales and Distribution, is launching “The Green Inferno” for the first time to international buyers at the Marché du Film in Cannes. CAA will handle the domestic sale.

Story details on “The Green Inferno” are being kept tightly under wraps.

“Eli has an excellent track record of writing and directing high quality, commercially successful films of this genre. We are big fans of his work and very excited to be a part of his next project,” said Worldview CEO, Christopher Woodrow.

“I’ve had an amazing few years producing, writing and acting, and am very excited to get back in the director’s chair. I’ve been working on this idea for several years, and was inspired by filming in Chile and cannot wait to get back,” said writer-director Eli Roth. “Worldview backs my vision and believes in me, and is giving me the support I need and the freedom to take risks and make something daring and terrifying. I believe this will be the scariest and most intense film I have made to date. I want to audiences worldwide to feel my return to directing was worth the wait.”

"I am a huge fan of Eli Roth. Any filmmaker who can consistently satisfy his audience ultimately can command global box office success. I cannot wait for our international distributors to sink their teeth into this project,” said Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s President of International Sales and Distribution.

Worldview is currently in production on Guillaume Canet’s crime thriller, “Blood Ties,” starring Academy Award® nominee Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard, Zoe Saldana, Mila Kunis and Academy Award® nominee James Caan. The company is also financing Academy Award® nominee Atom Egoyan’s West Memphis Three biopic, “Devil’s Knot,” starring Academy Award® winners Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, slated to begin in June.

Worldview is currently in post-production on James Gray’s untitled epic period drama starring Marion Cotillard and Academy Award® nominees Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner. The company is set to debut their British crime thriller, “Welcome to the Punch,” from BAFTA® nominee Eran Creevy, starring James McAvoy, Mark Strong and Andrea Riseborough later this year. Worldview’s black comedy, “Killer Joe,” from Academy Award® winner William Friedkin, starring Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Academy Award® nominee Thomas Haden Church, Juno Temple and Gina Gershon will be released theatrically July 27th by LD Distribution.

Roth most recently co-wrote, produced and starred in Nicolas Lopez’s thriller “Aftershock,” currently in post production; produced and co-wrote “The Man with the Iron Fists” for Universal Studios starring Russell Crowe, RZA, and Lucy Liu, with Quentin Tarantino presenting; produced “The Last Exorcism Part II” with Strike Entertainment for StudioCanal. He is currently filming his new series “Hemlock Grove” for Netflix, and will be opening Eli Roth’s Goretorium, a high tech year-round haunted experience in Las Vegas, this September.
