"Scrappy", based on the Studs Terkel Humanities Award-winning poem by Donald G. Westlake, will represent the USA in the 2017 InCINEracion Festival in Granada, Spain on April 19th, 2017. Helmed and produced by Westlake's daughter, Dawn, the film stars Nefertina Lizarraga, Dismas, GrissyG, Bruce Rheins, and the Mighty Kong as the titular "Scrappy".

With gear provided by Canon USA, Inc., the film was shot in Pine Mountain, California, USA in September 2016. Pol Carrizo Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona shot and edited. The film was scored by GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs. Johnson was nominated for a Peer Raben Music Award at the 2016 SoundTrack_Cologne for his score for Westlake's "Through the Pane" (2015).
