INTERNATIONAL MEDIA CONFERENCE “GLOBAL VILLAGE, CHILDREN, TELEVISION AND CINEMA”
September, 26 in the framework of V International Children Television Festival “Dytiatko” and СІFEJ days in Ukraine Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin hosts the International Media Conference “Global village, children, television and cinema”. The participants were greeted by Sergii Chernov, the head of Kharkiv Regional Council and convener of festival “Dytiatko”, and Vil Bakirov, the rector of the university.
“In today’s rapidly changing world, a popular saying ‘He who owns the information, owns the world’ seems to have ceased to be topical. Taking into account the quantity and multidimensionality of information a person can draw from the mass media, especially from the Internet, surely no mistake is to say that he who knows how to use information, owns the world. And if a flow of information often bewilders adults, immature conscience of a child or a young person faces the threat of severe deformation, the consequences of which will show themselves throughout the life. And since we are talking about mass communication means, whole generations, whole society face the mentioned threat.
I am sure that this meeting will give us the opportunity not only to discuss topical problems of cinema and television for children in the world, exchange experience and share achievements in this sphere, but in the result of discussions the solutions to issues in question will be found and the ways of their implementation will be suggested. Dear colleagues, I wish you interesting and fruitful work, new offbeat ideas and good luck in your further work”, - said Sergii Chernov in his welcoming speech.
