MAIKKI KANTOLA: I LEARNT A LOT DURING THE TRAINING IN KHARKIV

Maikki Kantola (Finland), a renowned trainer in the field of animated and documentary films creatoin, shared with the journalists her impressions of working in Kharkiv.

“All the children and youth I met here are very creative and full of energy, however they are patient when creating cartoons as animation is a time-consuming and painstaking process”, - said Maikki Kantola.

Maikki also mentioned that she also gained a lot from the workshops and learnt more about the Ukrainian culture, in particular, about traditional painting of Easter eggs.

It gives me much pleasure to work here not only with children but also with adults. You must be a bit crazy to create cartoons and it seems to me I found a family here who accepted me as an insider, - shared her impressions Finnish animation artist.

In the framework of V international Children Television Festival and at the premises of Privat-TV television company Makki Kantola» holds a five day training for those pupils of Kharkiv schools, who have never tried to create cartoons before. Children are divided into three groups: two groups are creating cartoons based on the Ukrainian folk tales, the third one is shooting films about animals and the training. The results of pupils work can be assessed at the closing of the festival.

Since 1992 Maikki Kantola has held in total more than a thousand of trainings for children in different countries of the world.
