13th Rendez-Vous with French Cinema in Paris

13th Rendez-Vous with French Cinema in Paris (January 13-17, 2011)(1/11/11)
Unifrance is hosting its 2011 Rendez-Vous event in Paris from January 13 through 17.
Over the four-day event, the Grand Hotel Intercontinental will welcome 450 international distributors who have traveled to Paris to discover French cinema's latest offerings presented by sales agents.

80 films, half of which have not yet been released, will be screened at the Film Market. Among titles presented are A Cat in Paris by Alain Gagnol and Jean-Loup Felicioli, which will be screened at a gala evening. Largo Winch 2 will be presented in a world preview screening held Friday, January 14, in the presence of Jérôme Salle, Tomer Sisley, and Sharon Stone.

Held to coincide with the market, Unifrance will also host a press junket that has, over the years, become the largest of its kind in the world. 120 journalists from 27 countries will attend the event in Paris to meet with actors and directors from films that will be released in their respective countries in 2011.

The territories slated to release the largest number of French films in the first six months of 2011 include Spain, Quebec, Portugal, and Ukraine.

Unifrance will hold a press conference Friday, January 14, at 6.30 p.m. Unifrance president Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre and the association's executive director Régine Hatchondo will present French films' results in theaters abroad in 2010 and Unifrance's major policy initiatives for 2011, accompanied by the presidents of Unifrance's four Committees (Eric Névé representing the Producers' Committee, Éric Lagesse representing the Film Exporters' Committee, Tonie Marshall representing the Artists' Committee, and Karine Blanc representing the Short Film Committee).

They will also take the opportunity to officially launch the 1st Online French Film Festival: myfrenchfilmfestival.com.
