The Awards of the 28th Ji.hlava IDFF were presented at Jihlava’s DKO on Saturday night! The Contribution to World Cinema award was presented to Taiwanese director filmmaker Tsai Ming-liang. The Opus Bonum Award for the most notable international documentary film was granted to Ms. President by Slovak director Marek Šulík, while The Impossibility by Tomáš Hlaváček took home the Best Czech Documentary award. The award for the Best Central and East European documentary went to to Happiness to All by Czech director Filip Remunda, the Best film from the Visegrad region is Grey Zone by Slovak director Daniela Meressa Rusnoková, which also received the Award for the Best Debut in the First Lights competition. The jury of the Testimonies section appreciated the Bosnian-Danish coproduction The Sky Above Zenica by Zlatko Pranjic and Nanna Frank Møller. The Best Experimental Documentary film is Saigon, Kosovo by Mexican director Tin Dirdamal and Hopeful Visitors and Grieving Guides: Notes from the Travel Notebook of a Dark Tourist by Jiří Žák and Matěj Pavlík was named the Best Czech Experiment. The Short Joy Award went to Only If the Baby Cries... by Shadab Farooq from India, and Dajori  by Martin Páv and Nicolas Kourek was voted the audiences' favourite. JI.HLAVA INDUSTRY PRIZES FOR THE MOST PROMISING PROJECTS 


Eight projects participating in the fourth edition of the Ji.hlava New Visions Forum were awarded at the 28th Ji.hlava IDFF. The Award for the most promising European project went to Slovak-Czech co-production Wasteland Chronicles by Viera Čákanyová, Barbora Sliepková and Lucia Kašová, the Award for the best U.S. project went to Fenced by Gabriella Garcia Pardo. This year, the Forum was extended also to projects from East & Southeast Asia, many of which were recognised by the jury. The awards were presented in cooperation with our partners, which include UPP, Soundsquare, AmDocs, Current Time TV, EURODOC, #Docs Connect Taskovski Training, Cannes Docs – Marché du Film, Documentary Association of Europe, and Sheffield DocFest. PRODUCERS’ AWARD FOR ZUZANA MISTRÍKOVÁ


The APA World Excellence Award for the Best Producer of 2024 accorded by the Czech Producers’ Association was handed at the 28th Ji.hlava to Slovak producer Zuzana Mistríková who became the sixth laureate of the award, after Pierre-Olivier Bardet, Ada Solomon, Jacques Bidou, Gabriele Kranzelbinder and Heino Deckert.

JI.HLAVA WELCOMED OVER 1,400 INDUSTRY GUESTS


Over the last week, the Ji.hlava industry programme featured various pitchings, discussions, and masterclasses, a conference on ethics in documentary filmmaking, workshops, networking events, a film market, and presentations. In total, a record number of over 1,000 one-on-one meetings were organized during the festival’s Matchmaking Accelerator. In the coming days we will share with you recordings of selected events – including the presentation of EMERGING PRODUCERS 2025 and the Visegrad Accelerator debate on the position of Central & East European films internationally. All accredited film professionals have access to the Ji.hlava Video Library where they can now watch the festival's selection online.

JI.HLAVA / JB FILMS SUPPORTED THREE CEE DOCUMENTARIES WITH 110,000 EUR


Three documentary projects were supported at the 28th Ji.hlava through the Ji.hlava /JB Films – the new co-production support scheme for creative documentaries from the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The supported projects are Power, Elaine directed and produced by Serbian director Mila Turajlić (co-production support 40,000 EUR), With Love, from the Frontline directed by Ukrainian director Alisa Kovalenko and produced by Polish producer Katarzyna Kuczyńska (40,000 EUR), and Wishing on a Star directed and produced by Slovak director Peter Kerekes (30,000 EUR). All revenues generated from the JI.HLAVA / JB FILMS co-production share will be reinvested into additional documentary film projects from Central and Eastern Europe in the future. ONLINE EDITION CONTINUES UNTIL NOVEMBER 17


Until November 17, viewers in the Czech Republic can enjoy a selection of over 150 films from the Ji.hlava online programme. The Ji.hlava online selection includes films in the competition programme including the winners, as well as titles from the retrospective sections.
