6th week of strike with Italian dubbers

AIDAC - Italian Association of Audiovisual Script Translators and Adaptors

Italian dubbing actors, directors, assistants and dialogue writers are intering into their 6th week strike in a fight to achieve working conditions that will allow them to improve both their performances and the quality of dubbed films and TV fiction.

The expired 5-year-old national agreement has up to now rarely been respected by dubbing companies which – after an extenuating 8-months discussion with the Unions – still refuse to accept a set of rules that will make dubbing costs trasnparent for film distributors and TV channels alike.

Should the strike continue, it is likely to put in jeopardy the opening in Italy of several major Hollywood films already announced for next Easter and May.
