Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

A message from Revelation Festival

It's happening and on us! The 11th installment of Rev is here with a new venue, new program director and event activity that extends the festival beyond the wonderful screens at Mt Lawley's beautiful Astor Cinema and into galleries and clubs.

The 2008 event contains over 100 films drawn from the four corners of the globe and features live musical performances in the cinema, a micro-cinema and machinima showcase at the Spectrum Gallery (also Mt Lawley), a bar and lounge throughout the event at the Astor, guest presentations, industry based seminars and open forums designed to engage the local film community in its cultural funding strategic direction.

It brings to Perth national and international guests from the production, screen culture and broadcast sectors as well as providing some of the finest independent work on show in Australia curated with vision and purpose.

Rev doesn't try to be all things to all people, but does have something for everybody. It's an event about individuality and identity. It's an event about passion and politics and it's an event about creativity and conversation - and it's all here for 2008.

It seeks to embrace the talents of new local practitioners in its exhibition and organisation and continues to provide a platform for energetic and vibrant voices of new and established screen artists. It seeks to explore exhibition practice and provide the best possible context for these international works.

This year includes a brilliant international animation showcase, our regular sell out of local short films - Get Your Shorts On - a specially curated program of new experimental works from Britain and the second year of the hugely successful Revel-8 Super 8 competition. Special mention must also go to a new feature of previous Rev guest Serge Bozon and his film La France which is having fantastic success on the international film festival circuit.

Just finally, we deeply wish to thank all the event partners and stakeholders who allow this event to take place every year. We ask you to support them where you can - they love you.

So...on with the show and see you in the dark!

Team Rev
