INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL OF BOSTON ANNOUNCES 2005 PROGRAM LINE-UP

The Independent Film Festival of Boston (IFFB) today announced the films that will be featured at the 2005 Independent Film Festival of Boston. The third annual festival will be held April 21-April 24, 2005. The four day festival, complete with over 100 film screenings, filmmaker Q&A sessions, panel discussions, visiting filmmakers, parties and events will showcase the works of unknown filmmakers who seek to create films that are life changing, thought provoking and expose aspects of life in new and revealing manners.

The East Coast premiere of “LONESOME JIM” directed by Steve Buscemi and featuring Liv Tyler and Casey Affleck will open this year’s festival on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 7pm at the Somerville Theatre. Steve Buscemi will be in attendance to conduct a Q&A session after the screening.

“ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW” directed by Miranda July will close the Independent Film Festival of Boston on Sunday, April 24 at the Museum of Fine Arts.

MAYSLES BROTHERS CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
A CONVERSATION WITH MELVIN VAN PEEBLES
IFFB is proud to present Albert and David Maysles with the first Independent Film Festival of Boston Career Achievement Award on Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Museum of Fine Arts. Maysles will be on hand to accept this award and David’s daughter, Celia Maysles will accept the award on behalf of her father. Wesley Morris of the Boston Globe will moderate a Conversation with Melvin Van Peebles on Sunday, April 24, 2005. Van Peebles will discuss the roots and changing face of independent film, as well as role in it.
