Brussels European Film Festival

World Première at the Brussels Festival !

The 5th edition of the Brussels European Film Festival will take place from June 29 until July 7, 2007 at Flagey.
This edition will be full of surprises with new films, discoveries, concerts, DJ sets every night, free open air screenings, meeting with directors & actors.

2 new films in the programme :

LA FACE CACHEE by Bernard Campan (France / Belgium) – world première !

In collaboration with Didier Bourdon and Pascal Légitimus, Bernard Campan has invaded the French scene as one of the three hilarious and insolent members of « Les inconnus ». Right from their first picture, “les trois frères” (1995), they had conquered the French audience. Following this amazing success, they worked together on several projects (Le Pari –1997, L’extraterrestre-2000, les rois mages-2001). For the first time alone, Bernard Campan has chosen a dark drama to express his talents of director and actor. Jaco Van Dormael is coproducing the feature.
After several years spent together, Isa and François attempt to rediscover each other. Their couple is not doing great and François seems to quite powerless. He starts studying piano and even gets interested in do-it-yourself jobs but like his marriage, he is rather awkward. In spite of all his good intentions, their complicity is faded!
La Face Cachée will be screened in the Avant-Première section. More info over the film available on : www.lafacecachee-lefilm.com

NINA FRISK by Maria Blom (Sweden) – international première !

Maria Blom was in 2005 on the Brussels European Film festival with her laconic family drama Dalecarlians. With Nina Frisk she now focuses on one person and her complex private life. As in her first film, Maria Blom is able to bring an on first sight heavy topic on a very light and funny way. Your smile will rise up easily when you see the lovely and handsome Nina Frisk. Fasten your seatbelts!
Nina Frisk is a stewardess. She’s pretty happy high in the sky, far away from her dysfunctional family and her moving love life. One day she meets Marcus and his son William. She falls in love with him and starts to long for an own family. But Nina discovers that her life on the ground can be as turbulent as the one in the sky.
Nina Frisk will be screened in Competition.

Please also note the following changes in our programme :
AFR by Morten Hartz Kaplers (Denmark) will be screened in Competition (formerly in the Discovery section)
GARAGE by Lenny Abrahamson (Ireland) will join the Cinédécouvertes competition (formerly in the Festival Competition)
RIPARO by Marco Simon Puccioni & CEUX QUI RESTENT by Anne Le Ny aren't scheduled anymore.
