The International Fest of Cinema and Technology (IFCT) announces an upcoming event at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Washington, DC on October 15th and 16th. Festival projects include short comedies, dramas, animations, experimental films, music videos and documentaries and are from independent filmmakers from a variety of countries.
Countries with films represented at the upcoming DC event include the U.S., U.K., Canada, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, France, Italy, Portugal, Italy, Malta, Switzerland, Brazil, Australia, The Netherlands and New Zealand.
The International Fest of Cinema and Technology has been presenting touring film festival events since 2002. In addition to the October Washington, DC event, this year’s IFCT 2007 World Tour is also taking place in Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, London, Orlando and The Philippines.
The IFCT World Tour is designed to give exposure to independent films many of which previously had been underexposed to the public. The festival's motto is it seeks to "discover the undiscovered film." The "technology" in the festival's name occurs both in the content of the festival, which tends to focus on themes of technology or feature unique creation techniques, as well as in the method of showcasing content at the events. Many of the films that will be showcased at the Washington, DC event are making their premieres in the US.

Film Screenings
On October 15th, screenings begin at 5:30pm and include the following screening sequences: "European Shorts,” “Suspense Genre Films” “Experimental Films and Visual Innovation” and "Tenuous Grip on Reality-" short films about people on the brink of madness. Films in the “Tenuous Grip of Reality” screening sequence include “Letters from R,” Directed by Ross Turnbull, “Telling Mark” Directed by Guy Ducker and “Ed I Hide” Directed by Suzanna Laine and Len Peltier.
Suspense genre films featuring "Desert Road End" Directed by Joseph Saito and starring Najarra Townsend (Me You and Everyone We Know), "Kenmore Ave" Directed by Nunzio Fazio, “Sex Love and Z Parts”, Directed by Marcus d Russell, among others.
Monday night’s “Experimental and Visual Innovation” screening series focuses on films which have unique visual FX, animation and high impact imagery. Screenings during this sequence include “Ratsnitch Angel” Directed by Michael Medaglia that will be presented using '1.5D' technology. Other films in the visual innovation category include “Braintrain” Directed by Jimi Pantalon, “Solo Ida” Directed by Manuel Soubies, “I Turn my Face to the Forest Floor” Directed by Thomas Hicks and “Sterilising Sol-3” Directed by Sean Lahiff.
Screening sequences Tuesday night October 16th include Documentaries, Dramatic and Comedic Shorts, and Thrillers. Films to be screened on the 16th include “The Receipt” a short comedy based loosely around "Run Lola Run" directed by Tim Garrick. The film features Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) and Dina Meyer (Saw 3), In the thriller sequence the highly unique short “Protocole 33.” “Protocole 33” was written and directed by Benoît Lestang who worked on special fx and makeup for over 50 films including “Brotherhood Of The Wolf,” “City Of Lost Children”, among many others. The dramatic shorts category features the short film “Un Dia en la Vida,” Directed by Marco Orsini and Produced by Effie Brown ( producer of“Real Women Have Curves.”) “The Staring Girl,” Directed by Sarah Lewis, “Non Lieu/ Non Place,” Directed by Alberic Aurteneche and “Combustible,” Directed by James Rae.
