CLICKIN’ FOR LOVE: Documentary to premiere in Temecula

Is the world of online dating full of those who can't survive in the real dating world? What is the average person’s experience? Do most people find their true love and end up as living, breathing eHarmony commercial, or do most give up in disappointment? Once you've seen the documentary Clickin’ for Love, you'll know a lot more.

After using Craigslist to find people willing to do on-camera interviews about their online dating experiences, filmmaker Pablo Pappano quickly discovered that many of the people he found had a lot in common—especially their larger-than-life personalities.

Audrey is a forty-something would-be actress who fell in love with a mysterious South African boat captain. Marty is an affable, middle-aged father-of-three and swinger with a “black book” containing thousands of names who hopes to find a wife online. Colleen is a single chef who doesn’t want either a one night stand or a boyfriend. She wants something in between. Thirty-something Andy uses online dating and matchmakers but hasn't found that special someone - although he did find a woman who, on their first date, offered him $100,000 to father her child.

Pappano commented, “Many people blame Internet sites for their dating woes. Some sites match you based on information you've provided them. On others you pick and choose matches based on profiles and pictures. In short, you are not going to attract a different person online than you would attract in real life.”

After recording all of these insightful - and sometimes crazy - stories about the world of online dating, Pappano knew he had a fantastic and original movie to make. Internet dating has been around for more than a decade, but it still isn't clear whether online dating really works. Is “happily ever after” a realistic goal for online daters? Find out by watching Clickin' for Love in its World Premiere at the Temecula International Film Festival on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 3PM and Saturday, Sept. 18 at 9PM 2010. Both screening take place at The Movie Experience @ Tower Plaza, 27531 Ynez Road, Temecula, Ca 92591.

BIOS
Pablo Pappano, Filmmaker, attended the film school at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where he directed the short films Sick (narrative) and Trinidad (documentary). He was a co-writer of the film Creepshow III for the segment titled The Call Girl for Taurus Films. Recently, Pablo directed a speculative commercial for eHarmony.com after being a longtime member. He currently works as the Vice President of Operations at his family’s exterior maintenance company and spends his free time pursuing his dream of making films. Filming on Clickin’ for Love began in January 2009 and was completed in May 2010. More than 18 hours of footage was condensed into an 88 minute film.

KATHERINE DJERNES, Producer, hails from Riverside and is a first time producer currently working towards a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the University of California, Riverside. Djernes was able to use her analytical problem solving skills learned in the lab to help complete the film. She and Pappano met on eHarmony and have dated for more than two years. Djernes does not have any aspirations to produce films professionally unless she is coaxed into producing by her boyfriend.
