The short film CONTACT, which previously won the Golden Bear at the Film Festival in Berlin, has for the 5th time been awarded with a major film prize: the PRIX UIP at the Flanders International Festival in Gent (Belgium). Director Hanro Smits personally received the € 2000, - prize yesterday. By winning this very prestigious prize, the film is automatically nominated for the European short film competition of the European Film Awards.
Apart from winning the Golden Bear at the Berlinale, CONTACT also won the major prizes at the international film festivals of Palm Springs, Brussels and Brooklyn (New York).

Producer IJswater Films also entered CONTACT for the upcoming Academy Awards.
CONTACT (10 min.) is a short tragic-comedy about a boy, his mother and her lover, and their search for happiness.
CONTACT was directed and written by Hanro Smitsman in cooperation with Philip Delmaar en Anjet Daanje. Camilla Siegertsz, Nino van der Lee, Juda Goslinga en Jelka van Houten play leading parts.
At present Hanro Smitsman is directing his first feature film, SKIN, also produced by Marc Bary of IJswater Films, in co-production with Humanistic Broadcasting Company and Kasander Film. Producer and director aim for SKIN to have it’s world premiere at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam in January 2008.
