45TH CRACOW FILM FESTIVAL
THE VERDICT OF THE NATIONAL COMPETITION JURY

The National Competition Jury of the 45th Cracow Film Festival:
Witold Stok – chairman, Hanna Polak, Krzysztof Talczewski, Piotr Szczepański, Leszek Gałysz, having watched all the competition films decided to award the following prizes :

The Grand Prix – The Golden Hobby-Horse to “Hercules” directed by Lidia Duda
The Silver Hobby-Horse to „Olter” by Krystian Matysek
The Bronze Hobby-Horse to „Old Books Store” directed by Maciej Cuske

Special Merits to :
Filip Marczewski for „Melodrama”
and
Marek Skrobecki for „Ichthys”

The President Of The Association Of Polish Filmmakers Award to “Rat In Crown” by Jacek Bławut

The Maciej Szumowski Award founded by Kino Polska and UPC to „ We all’re made of coal” directed by Tomasz Wiszniewski

The Bronisław Chromy Sculpture to the best Polish producer of short and documentary films to Kalejdoskop Film Studio

The Kodak Award –10 rolls of 16mm tape to the director of the best short film director to Lidia Duda, the director of “Hercules”

The Pro Helvetia Foundation Award to the director of best animated debut- to Izabela Bartosik for “Everlasting Finale”

The Award For Best Cinematography to Dawid Sokołowski for “Over The Fence”

The Award For Best Editing to Lech Molski for “Olter”

The President Of Polish State Television Award to Paweł Kędzierski for “ Ordinary People Uprising”



45TH CRACOW FILM FESTIVAL –THE VERDICT OF THE INTERNATIONAL JURY

Having watched all the competition films the International Jury: Andrea Arnold – the chairwoman, Ludmila Cbikova, Priit Parn, Sławomir Grünberg, Andrzej Kołodyński has decided to award the following prizes:
The Grand Prix Of The Festival – The Golden Dragon to:

“Prostitution bag sloret” / “Prostitution Behind The Veil” directed by Nahid Persson for a strong and convincing approach that can make the difference
and
“The Other Side Of Burka” by Mehrdad Oskouei. The Jury appreciated the inside look at the intimate world of Iranian women.




The Silver Dragon For Best Animated Film to ”Morir de Amor” directed by Gil Alkabetz, a good, funny and fresh story with brilliant use of sound and animating that has deeper and metaphorical meaning.

The Silver Dragon For Best Short Live Action Film to ”My Place” / ”Moje miejsce” by Leszek Dawid, a true story of a young man searching for his place in life and society.

The Silver Dragon for Best Documentary Film to ”Life In Peace” / “Mirnaja Zhizn” directed byAntoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov. The Jury was taken by the simplicity and truth of this story , reflecting the human level of the war conflict.

The Prix UIP Cracow to “Dust” / “Toz” by Fatih Kizilgok , an intriguing and enigmatic look into the world of a young couple in the contemporary world.

A special mention to :
“Once Upon A Time There Lived ne Old Man And One Old Woman”/ „Zhyli-byli starik so starukhoi” by Irina Zaitseva, a sensitive film with strong characters and storytelling that tells of a disappearing world.

“Insomnia” by Vladimirs Lescovs ,a film that lingers about mountaineering, milking and dreams.

“Richtung Leben” / „Life This Way” by Stephan Rick , a touching film about a man who is trying to find love, which is well acted and well written;
and
“Konserve Irani”/ „Iranian Conserve” by Mohammad Shirvani , a simple story executed with creative directing and camerawork.

THE VERDICT OF JURY FIPRESCI /INTERNATIONAL FILM CRITICS/

FIPRESCI Jury: Ludmila Hristozova-Diakova, Tadeusz Robak oraz Alexandre Tylski has decided to award “Dust” / “Toz” directed by H. Fatih Kiziglok (Turkey)
“We have given this award to this film because style is very important today. The film is very artistic, full of poetry and invention about everyday life”.
THE VERDICT OF JURY FICC /THE FEDERATION OF FILM DISCUSSION CLUBS/

FICC Jury: Radka Korena, Dinah Munchow, Anna Korosadowicz – the chairperson
decided to give the Don Quichote award to Andrey Paounov for the film „Georgi i peperudite”. The film proves that – even when faced with a terryfing reality – people can find the positive aspects of life: good things can be found in life if people search for them. Aside from the subject the cinematography was also beautiful.

Moreover, the jury decided to give a special mention to Vit Klusak and Filip Remunda for the film „Cesky sen” and to Gil Alkabetz for „Morir de amor”.

THE VERDICT OF THE STUDENT JURIES

The National Competition Students Of Cracow Jury :Maciej Gil –chairman, Magdalena Kowalczyk, Joanna Mazia, Agnieszka Łapińska, Michał Dousa decided to award Maciej Cuske’s “Old Books Store” for inspiring low book prices.


The International Competition Students Of Cracow Jury :Patrycja Jama, Kinga Kępińska,Aleksandra Tchórzewska,Alicja Buczkowska and Agnieszka Dębogórska decided to award „The Final Solution” by Phil Mulloy for creating The Big Unity.
