DOCircuitMtl The first Quebec documentary market

DOCircuitMtl The first Quebec documentary market
November 16-17, 2005
At the Cinémathèque québécoise

Les Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal (RIDM) and DOC-Québec are proud to announce a major new industry event to support the production and promotion of Quebec documentaries. DOC CIRCUIT MTL is the first ever marketplace for documentary film and video productions from Québec. It takes place November 16 and 17, in English and French, at the Cinémathèque québécoise, in concert with the 8th RIDM documentary festival, November 10-20.

Designed to meet the needs of independent documentary producers and filmmakers, DOC CIRCUIT MTL will encourage the production and distribution of independent documentaries, and put industry professionals in touch with co-production partners, buyers, and others in the community.

Canadian and European broadcasters confirmed for the first DOC CIRCUIT MTL include Jerry McIntosh, Michael Allder and Michelle Van Beusokom from CBC Television; Robin Altman and Bob Culbert from CTV; Victor Harrouch and Andrée Pelletier from Télé-Québec; Jean Pelletier and Luc Paradis from Société Radio-Canada (SRC); Michael Burns from The Documentary Channel; Jean-Pierre Laurendeau from Canal D; Nathalie D’Souza from TV5; Charlotte Engel from Bravo; Jacynthe Brisebois from ARTV, Alberta Nokes Vision TV, Sandra Kleinfeld from Global TV; Clodette St-Amant from TFO; Lyne Denault and Line Richard from Canal Vie; Monika Ille from APTN; and Sylvie Gaudreault from TVA . Representatives from France-Télévisions, RTBF (Belgium) and TSR (Télévision suisse romande) will take part in a session with the Communauté des télévisions francophones (North American and European French-language public broadcasters). Moderators for the discussions include producers Nathalie Barton (InformAction) and Monique Simard (Productions Virage), and journalists Francine Pelletier and Marie-Anna Murat.

For the panel on Private and Public Funding, we welcome Robin Jackson from the Canadian Independent Film and Video Fund (CIFVF), Robin Mirsky-Daniels from the Rogers Documentary Fund, David Poole from the Canada Council, Mahalia Verna from the National Film Board of Canada, Françoise Jean from the Quebec Arts Council (CALQ), Joëlle Levie from SODEC and Nancy Roch from Téléfilm Canada.

DOC CIRCUIT MTL kicks off with a session on “Pitching Tips” led by Jan Rofekamp from Films Transit International and Luc Paradis from Radio-Canada-Télévision.
