Documentary filmmaker Angela Hinton to be honored in Cannes

Independent Film Quarterly Film & New Media (IFQNMF) is pleased to announce that it will honor multi-award winning documentary filmmaker Angela Hinton at a special celebration during the 64th annual Cannes Film Festival. IFQNMF festival president Dan Frank will throw an invitation-only party on Sunday May 15th at the Penthouse Terrance on the Croisette overlooking the Mediterranean. The guest list will also include press buyers, distributors and A-list personalities as well as fellow IFQNMF and NYIFF honorees.

Directed, produced, and written by Angela Hinton, “Animation: A Palette of Possibilities” is a whirlwind tour of some of the great animators who brought to life beloved classics such as "Sleeping Beauty," "Mary Poppins, "Pete’s Dragon," "Mulan," and "The Princess and the Frog." With interviews from artists such as Academy Award nominee Joe Hale, renowned artist Ron Dias, and many others, the film uncovers inspirational stories and advice from those who have achieved their dreams. Patt Noday of “Enchanted” fame provided the narration.

To date, the film has been chosen to be screened in 17 different film festivals throughout the United States, and it has won 8 awards including, “Best Student Documentary” at the Independent Film Quarterly Film & New Media Festival and “Best Documentary Short” at the California Shorts Festival.

In a statement Hinton said, "I created and paced this film for people who typically don't enjoy documentaries. I also wanted to inspire the next generation of animators to have the courage to follow their dreams and to provide them with advice from people that they normally wouldn't have had the chance to meet. I was encouraged to follow my dream of filmmaking by Frank Capra, Jr. and have dedicated this film to him."

IFQNMF’s Dan Frank commented, “Nothing makes me happier than celebrating our talented filmmakers. I was very impressed with Angela’s inspirational documentary. I loved that viewers were educated on the art form that is animation; the narration and range of insightful interviews with top animators were important components.” Frank added, “Anglea Hinton is talented, ambitious and has a unique personality - I expect to see more great work from her.”
