Ecocinema becomes Ecofilms

The Ecocinema International Environmental Film Festival, which held its 4th edition earlier this year in Rhodes (Greece), has just changed its name. It is now called Ecofilms or "Rhodes International film and visual arts festival" and will be held next year on 21-26 June 2005, still on the sunny Greek island of Rhodes.

The Ecofilms festival invites the participation of documentaries, shorts and features with environmental and ecology themes, encouraging conservation issues and issues related with the natural, the human and the built environment.
Prizes are awarded to the films for their innovative approach in conservation issues for their daring proposal in subject matter and their artistic qualities overall.

The International jury awards prizes for both the international and national competition categories (read this article to know more about the last edition)

Cash awards range from 7000 to 3000 Euros.
The two audience awards are coordinated by the Rhodes Cinema Society

Directors who have made a film they feel fits within the described themes
can send Ecofilms a viewing cassette with English subtitles for the preselection committee to view. In order to participate, directors must send their application form before 1st March 2005. It can be downloaded on ecofilms' website at www.ecofilms.gr

Ecofilms is an independent International Film and Visual Arts Festival
organized by the non-profit association Image and Environment and the Municipality of Rhodes with the support of the Prefecture of the Dodecanese, the Greek Ministry of Culture, the Rhodes Cultural Organisation, the National and Municipal Theater of Rhodes, and the Rhodes Cinema Society.
