EUROSPORT WINS “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2005”

The delivery of the “Guirlande d’Honneur” closed the 23rd "Sport Movies & TV – Milano International FICTS Festival” “6 days of Sport, Cinema and world TV” held in Milan for six days of sport and culture. Over 200.000 spectators attended, due to the peculiarity of the event and the promotional approach, with a completely free access to the screenings in 5 inside halls, as well as the maxi-screen located in Piazza Duomo.

In the various Sections prevailed works coming from United Kingdom, Russia, China, USA, Argentina, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Italy and Qatar. To “VIP Pass Speciale Bormio” the video realized by Eurosport about VIP Pass’ party in occasion of Ski Championship in Bormio has been given the “Jaeger – Le Coultre Sport Movies & TV Award 2005”.

The “Guirlande d’Honneur” went to the following videos: for the Section Olympic Spirit: “My Olympic Games” (Poland); for Documentary – Great Champions: “Arktos – Mike Horn – Le voyage Interieur” (Germany); for Documentary – Individual Sport : “The Hobby” (Australia); for Documentary – Team Sport: “Sciagurata Muxar” (Italy); for Documentary – Reportage: “Heysel, la finale maledetta” (Italy); for Sport e Solidarity: “Papa Dallas” (Sweden); for Sport & Society: “My Papa” (China); for TV Sport Show: “VIP Pass speciale Bormio” (France); for Movies: “The city of good doers” (I.R. Iran); for Sport Advertising Commercial: “Surf” (Italy); for Sport Advertising Social: “Sunflowers” (Russia).

The Critics Award - Bruno Beneck was earned by “On the trail of eagles” (France) directed by Alain Marie; the “Web Award” to “TT- A film documentary” (United Kingdom) by Lauren Roberts, the “Audience Award” to Albatross for Golf (Italy) by Gabriele Fonseca and the Prize Sport & Solidarity to Ball Time (France) . The Festival started on Oct. 27 with the movie “Real – La Pelicula” and the presence in Milan of Arrigo Sacchi, Francisco Gento, Emilio Butragueno and the director of the movie Borja Manso; day by day have been invited and took part in the event famous persons coming from Sport (among them, 14 Olympic Gold Medallists), from TV, from Cinema and from Journalism (see the attached files with all the names).

The Festival, with its 8 Meetings and an original Expo on Posters of Boxing dedicated to Primo Carnera, 196 competing works, 46 different sports, directed by President Franco Ascani has been organized by FICTS - Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs: 94 member Nations, endorsed by IOC, under the High Patronage of the President of Italian Republic and the pleading of International Olympic Museum and the collaboration of Regione Lombardia, Province and City of Milan, and the partners Monte Paschi di Siena, Ital Brokers, Enel Gas and Jaeger – Le Coultre.
