Fantasia festival is ready to celebrate its 11th edition.
From July 5th to July 23rd, the public will be able to discover a diversified programming originating from the four corners of the globe.
Notably made possible by the addition of a third theatre of 400 seats (Concordia’s D.B. Clarke Theatre), the festival will present this year an increased number of films, more than 120 feature films, 10 documentaries, 22 programs of short features (of which, ten devoted to the Quebec movies) totalling more than 250 local and international shorts.

Faithful to our continuing tradition, our 2007 feature film jury is comprised of celebrated members of our local film and art industries:

Roland Smith, repertory theatre programmer (le nouveau Cinéma du Parc)
As for our competition of short films, the following prestigious jurors will be joining us in this summer:
Suzanne Clément, actress et President of our short film competition (Grande Ourse, Cover Girl, Le confessionnal, L'audition et Les Hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin)
Stéphane Crête, actor, director and screenwriter (Étoiles filantes, La moitié gauche du frigo, Cosmos, Dans une galaxie près de chez vous)
René Homier-Roy, radio and television host, critic and journalist (C’est bien meilleur le matin et Viens voir les comédiens)

During the course of this short film competition, many prizes will be allocated including a 2,500$ bursary which will be award to the Quebec’s best short.
PRIX SÉQUENCES 2007
For the fifth year in a row, Séquences Magazine joins Fantasia to offer the « Prix Séquences », awarded to their choice for the best film of our 2007 edition. M. Élie Castiel, writer in chief of Sequences will act as president of the jury for this special award
PRIX L’ÉCRAN FANTASTIQUE – FANTASIA 2007
For the third year in a row, the « Prix L'Écran Fantastique » award will be given to a long-lenght film produces in the past 48 months and presented within the course of Fantasia. The award consist of a promise of 6 colors pages report to appear in a future edition and of a full page of free publicity at the time of the film is launched in theater or on video in France. L'Écran Fantastique, which has existed for more than 37 years, with a 98.000 copies monthly distribution in France, in Spain, in Portugal, in Belgium, in Italy, in Switzerland, in Luxembourg, in Canada (Quebec), Morocco and in Germany.
PRIX DIY - MAGRA MULTI MÉDIA
Since 2003, the Fantasia festival allows independent or semi-professional directors to present their short films in a series of program entitled Quebec DIY (Do It Yourself). Proud partner of the festival (for the second year in a row), Magra Multi Media will reward the winning director by offering the duplication of 100 DVDR of his film, allowing him to approach other festivals, distributors and broadcasters with a professional quality product.
LIVE DJ’S BETWEEN SCREENINGS IN THE HALL THEATER
For the second year in a row and throughout the festival, attendees will be treated to live DJ’s spinning cutting-edge tracks between screenings, courtesy of the talented DJs at CJLO Underground Radio. The 2007 DJ line-up features Jo Satana, Alex Robot, Angelica, Electric Ant, Trevor Kiernander, dj AXIENE, Optimus Grime.

The complete selection of Film screenings and guests will be announced on the www.fantasiafestival.com website starting June 28th, whereas the souvenir program will be on sale as of on June 29th at the cost of 5,00$. The tickets for the 2007 Fantasia Festival are available starting July 3rd at 2 pm at the Concordia Hall Theatre (Guy-Concordia Metro) and throughout the Admission Network. The price is $7,50 per ticket or $65 for as booklet of ten tickets.
