Go Short Fest offers a monthly selection on the Internet

Short film is hot. On the internet popular ‘shorts' are viewed over a 10 million times and in some cinemas the short film is back on the big screen. Go Short - International Short Film Festival Nijmegen (The Netherlands) is now presenting the best new short films on its website every month.

YouTube blockbusters and hidden beauties
Online video is booming. Over 3 billion videos are viewed every day and in one month more video is uploaded to YouTube than the 3 major US networks created in 60 years. For short film the internet appears to be an interesting platform. Go Short acknowledges this trend: "Thanks to the internet short film is more popular than ever. Each year more filmmakers submit their films and more people are visiting our short film festival. Short film is adventurous, innovative and versatile and it's a great showcase for mostly young and talented filmmakers. As a gatekeeper we want to show the best in short film, on the big screen and also online"

The Best Online Shorts
In the jungle of online videos Go Short offers a monthly selection of five fresh ‘online shorts'. The selected films embody the power of short film: in a few minutes they surprise the viewer with strong ideas and creative concepts. The festival's website shows the latest internet blockbusters in HD quality. This month's program contains a.o. Tape Generations, a surprising piece of work made by a young Dutch filmmaker and which has already been viewed over half a million times within just one month. The audience can send tips and vote to decide which films make it to the finals. In March 2012 the winning film will be awarded the Biosagenda / Go Short Online Award worth 1500 euros.

Short film before the feature film
Go Short also started an initiative to bring back the short film into the cinemas. In four big cities in The Netherlands the short film is back on the big screen like for instance Dusk by photographer and filmmaker Erwin Olaf.

Go Short - International Short Film Festival Nijmegen annually showcases the best European short films.
The 4rth edition will take place 14 - 18 March 2012 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
