Announcement of the nominations for the 2008 Grand Prize of the Dutch Film, the Golden Calves
This evening during the Talkshow of the 28th Netherlands Film Festival, the nominations were announced for the Golden Calves, the Grand Prize of the Dutch Film. The Jury of the Golden Calves competition selected the nominees after watching 72 film productions in the competition programme. The members of the jury are Nanouk Leopold, Britta Hosman, Albert ter Heerdt, Petra Goedings, Roberto van Eijden, Jan Vandierendonck and Frans Afman (chairman).
Furthermore, the nominations were revealed for the Dutch Film Critics Award: CALIMUCHO by Eugenie Jansen, SHANGHAI TRANCE by David Verbeek and RECYCLE by Mahmoud Al Massad. This press award is granted by the Circle of Dutch Film Critics. This year's jury is made up of Ronald Rovers, Ellen van Slagmaat and Harry Peters.
The Golden Calves and the Dutch Film Critics Award will be presented during the Netherlands Film Gala on Saturday 3 October from 20.00 to 21.30 in the Stadsschouwburg Theatre in Utrecht. The Gala will be broadcast live on the Internet via www.filmfestival.nl/festivaltv and VPRO Tv reports on the Gala from 22.50 on Nederland 2.
The Jury awards Golden Calves in seventeen categories: Best Sound Design, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Score, Best Photography, Best Short Film, Best Short Documentary, Best Full-Length Documentary, Best TV Drama, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Feature Film and the Special Jury Award.
There are no nominations for the Special Jury Award.
During the Gala, the Golden Calf for the Film1 Audience Award will also be presented to the feature film that got the highest score from festival audiences.
In tonight’s Talkshow, SKIN by Hanro Smitsman was awarded the Moviesquad Junior Utrecht Award.
