HD EXPO unveils 3D Day

HD EXPO will present a full day of highly anticipated 3D panels and screenings on November 8th, the second day of its expanded two-day conference and exhibition in Burbank, California. The presentations include “A Multidimensional Conversation About 3D” featuring the industry’s leading 3D experts in a far-ranging discussion of the state of 3D followed by a screening of the most compelling new content headed to screens in the next few months. The panel will offer insights and demonstrations of 3D, which has arguably become the hottest topic in today’s entertainment technology marketplace. Kicking off HD EXPO’s 3D Day, is a panel of artists, technologists and visual effects supervisors who will guide the audience through the creation – to – projection process of 3D.
“A Multidimensional Conversation About 3D” features key players in the creation and deployment of 3D. Joshua Greer from RealD and Steve Schklair from 3ality are playing key roles in the acquisition, post production and delivery of a growing list of dynamic content coming on the scene in the next year domestically and around the globe. Buzz Hayes, Senior Producer, Sony Pictures Imageworks, is a talented visual effects professional whose credits include BEOWULF, MONSTER HOUSE, THE TERMINAL and THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK as well as an extensive list of visual effects producer credits, engineering development at Lucasfilm and producer duties. Aaron Parry, President and Founder of Main Street Pictures, began his career at Walt Disney Feature Animation and worked on THE IRON GIANT, BARNYARD, and is at work on 3D projects at Paramount Pictures and other independent companies.
Screening 3D material from eagerly anticipated releases including U2 3D and BEOWULF, the panel will discuss the creation and distribution of 3D content and address intriguing questions about the emerging marketplace as 3D becomes widespread. Kristin Petrovich, CEO of HD EXPO noted that “3D has arrived and the furor is fueled by A-List creatives including Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Robert Zemeckis. Jeffrey Katzenberg has referred to 3D as ’the single most revolutionary change since color pictures.’ That kind of commentary, plus seeing this phenomenal footage, made this a must-see-HDEXPO event. We are excited to hear what these 3D leaders have to say and anxiously look forward to seeing what they have to show.” The Multidimensional Conversation and 3D Screening is slated for Thursday, November 8th, 2007, at HD EXPO at the Burbank Marriott Convention Center from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.

HD EXPO 3D Day, November 8th, kicks off with Rob Engle moderating a Sony Pictures Imageworks panel of artists, technologists and supervisors who will take the audience through the process of creating 3D assets and transforming them into a stereoscopic adventure. Engle, well known Stereographer and Digital Effects Supervisor, has worked on a number of the top releases in 3D including OPEN SEASON, MONSTER HOUSE, and POLAR EXPRESS. The Sony Pictures Imageworks panel begins at 12:30 on November 8th.

HD EXPO is presenting two days of unparalleled education, exhibition and social networking including an in-depth overview of the RED Camera with Ted Schilowitz, Intensives from Sony, BandPro, and Adobe, the Launch of the Autodesk Systems Tour, and an ACE Sponsored panel featuring the top editors from the year’s biggest hits.
