Heddy Honigmann's latest film FOREVER is the closing film of the 26th Netherlands Film Festival. The Dutch première takes place on the final regular screening day of the festival, Thursday 5 October 2006.

FOREVER reveals the mysterious beauty, serenity and comforting effects of the extraordinary Parisian cemetery Père-Lachaise, as seen through the eyes of people of flesh and blood. Many of them go there for their 'own' dead: husband, wife, father or son. Other visitors leave a letter behind for 'their beloved artist', carve words into a stone or place a flower. Some admirers talk about the significance of art and beauty to their lives. Gradually, it becomes visible and tangible that the graveyard is not only a final resting place for the dead, but particularly a place where the living can find peace and even inspiration.

Forever is a production of Cobos Films, in co-production with NPS. Cinema Delicatessen, in cooperation with Cobos Films, will release the documentary in movie theatres from 12 October 2006.

Heddy Honigmann (Peru, 1951) was trained as a filmmaker in Rome and has lived and worked in Holland since 1978. She has directed a large number of shorts, documentaries and features, including O AMOR NATURAL (1996), THE UNDERGROUND ORCHESTRA (1997) and DAME LA MANO (2004). In 2000, she was put in the Festival spotlights as Guest of the Year and honoured with a retrospective programme. Her documentary CRAZY was awarded the Golden Calf for Best Full-length Documentary in the same year. Many retrospectives have been devoted to her oeuvre and her films have bagged awards across the globe. She was recently presented with the Van Praag Award of the Humanistisch Verbond.
