Independents captured eight awards at tonight’s 68th Annual Golden Globes® ceremony, including for Best Picture and Best Actress, Comedy or Musical, as well as both Best Actor prizes, Independent Film & Television Alliance President-CEO Jean Prewitt announced.

The Kids Are All Right (Inferno Entertainment, Focus Features and UGC International) garnered awards for best Comedy or Musical Picture and Best Actress (Annette Bening); The King’s Speech (The Weinstein Company) won for Best Actor (Colin Firth); and Barney's Version (Sony Classics and Essential Entertainment) received Best Actor, Comedy or Musical (Paul Giamatti).

Additionally, The Weinstein Company’s The Fighter collected awards for Best Supporting Actress (Melissa Leo) and Actor (Christian Bale) in the drama category.
