Iranian film Towards the Sunset wins best at Marbella

IRANINANS ARE AT IT AGAIN!!

The Iranian film Towards the Sunset, by Iraj Emami, wins the award for the best feature film in Marbella International Film Festival; this is another film from Iran which has won a major award in International film festivals in recent weeks.
This comes in the same time as another Iranian film directed by Bahman Ghobadi scored a big victory at San Sebastian film festival.

The Story, opens at night in Tehran. A man conceals a large amount of money in a purpose built compartment of his bag. Walking back to his car a thief snatches his bag. Driving into a park, the robber empties and throws the bag away without noticing the hidden money. The owner searching desperately for his bag finally catches up with the robber only to find out he did not discover the hidden compartment. The search for the bag is now on. Mohammed, an illiterate Afghani boy, working with his uncle as a refuse collector finds the bag (again, without discovering the money) and starts using it for school. When Mohammed's uncle is arrested and jailed, Mohammed is sacked from his work. The paths of Mohammed (now looking for work and a place to stay) and the bag's owner (looking for his money) are set to intertwine at the Afghan border. This is a beautifully shot, thought-provoking film, one of the best recent examples of modem Iranian filmmaking. With Hediyah Tehrani, Mohamed Ataei and Simak Emami. (subtitles) IRAN 2006, Iraj Emami 99 Min.
