Isabella Rossellini to appear at Filmfest Hamburg

Isabella Rossellini

Actress Isabella Rossellini is to present the Montblanc Best Script Award at the closing event of the 21st Filmfest Hamburg on 5 October 2013 at the CinemaxX.

The award includes prize money of 10,000 euros and, together with Filmfest Hamburg, rewards the best script in the Nordlicht section. Five films have been nominated. The jury consists of screenwriter and producer Volker Einrauch, actress Leila Abdullah and cinematographer Wolfgang Treu.

Isabella Rossellini is visiting Hamburg in order to present a book about her mother, Ingrid Bergmann, published by Schirmer/Mosel. The biography, which features an introduction by Liv Ullmann, contains an utterly indescribable treasure trove of pictures: unpublished private photos, glamorous commissioned and glamour portraits, film stills and the indiscreet street photos taken by the paparazzi, who from early on were always on Bergmann's heels.

On this evening at Filmfest Hamburg, a further five awards will be presented: The Political Film of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the Art Cinema Award, the Hamburg Film Critic Award, the NDR Young Talent Award and the Häagen-Dazs Audience Award. All the prize winners will be announced on the night.

Afterwards, as the closing film of the festival, Filmfest Hamburg will be showing "Omar" by the Palestinian-Dutch director Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now 2004). The film is a gripping drama about love, espionage, friendship and growing up in extreme circumstances, residing between Israel and Palestine. In Cannes this year, "Omar" won the jury prize in the section Un Certain Regard.
