It's Showtime @ Tiburon International Film Festival

Tiburon International Film Festival March 19-27, 2009

The 8th Annual Tiburon International Film Festival (TIFF), a window to the world, will be held from March 19 to March 27, 2009. Over 250 films will be screened from 90 countries.

Our opening film and gala are on Thursday, March 19, starting at 7 pm with the opening film Guard No. 47 with its cast and crew in person. The gala will follow the movie at the Corinthian Yacht Club, with live entertainment and international cuisine.

The films officially start on Friday, March 20, when there is a party for the filmmakers and those who would like to meet them in person, at the Sam's Anchor Cafe.

The tributes are for Oscar winning director and cinematographer Haskell Wexler, who will be present to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from legendary filmmaker George Lucas on behalf of the festival, on Saturday, March 21 at 7 pm.

The press conference for Mr. Wexler will be at 11 am on Sunday, March 22 at theWaters Edge Hotel.

The other tribute is to the Warner Brothers [and Warner Bros. Studio], with screening of the classic The Jazz Singer (1927), one of the first talkie films, and The Brothers Warner, a documentary directed by Cass Warner, of the Warner family, who will be attending.

There will be a panel discussion on The Screenwriting & Film Distribution with four industry people at 1 pm at the Waters Edge Hotel, on Sunday, March 22. The admission is free and the space is limited.

The popular Marin Filmmakers program, which is dedicated to the filmmakers of Marin County, is on Monday, March 23 at 7:10 pm with the filmmakers in person. And onTuesday, March 24 at 7:20 with Fling, with also the cast and the crew in attendance.

The Spotlight this year is on Mexican Cinema, with the special ceremony at the opening night [March 19 @ the Corinthian Yacht Club], and screening of their latest films throughout the festival.

If you are a sports fan, there are many sport films to choose from. But one will have over 30 world class racers riding from Malibut to Tiburon to be at the screening of The First, Last Race with its direcot Jeff Jensen in person.

There are many films for different age groups, from the family films to children, sports, documentaries, to musicals.... Something for any taste!

Our award and closing ceremonies are on Friday, March 27 at the Guaymas restaurant, again with live music and food.

Please join us to go around the world in nine days!
