Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

John Landis at the Ischia Film Festival

Director and producer John Landis, will be at Lacco Ameno of Ischia-Italy on July 16 to receive the “Regina Isabella Legend Award.” The popular American artist (“Animal House,” “Blues Brothers”, “An American Werewolf in London”, “Beverly Hills Cop”) will also be at the center of the final International Kimbo Cinema Forum of the six planned for the festival’s third edition.

The announcement was given by the CEO of the Ischia International Arts Academy, Pascal Vicedomini, who will fly to Cannes Film Festival on May 18th to present the event and, more importantly, to cement the connection between the major Italian summer festival and its sister celebration of the year, the German Film Association. “We are a Global Fest because the material ranges through every country and continent, with respect for diverse ethnicities,” states Vicedomini.

THE GERMAN CINEMA LIVES
"This year the slogan of Ischia Global is ‘The German Cinema Lives,’ demonstrating that all good cinema does not come just from Hollywood" said Giancarlo Carriero, president of the Ischia International Academy of Arts. After dedicating last year's third edition (co-produced with the Luce Institute) to the Russian cinema, the Ischia Global Fest 2006 aims its spotlight at the German cinematographic industry with a review of both new and old works of directors known internationally. This portion of the festival is being developed in collaboration with the management of the German Film institution in Italy.

The Films and the Premieres
The final program of the festival will be announced July 3 in Rome at the press center on via dell'Umiltà. It comprises, at the moment, of film previews distributed from Buena Vista, Columbia, Luce Institute, 01 Distribution, IIF, Lucky Red, Sharada, Moviemax and Minerva. Other additions will be announced later.
The festival also will review the best Italian films of the first half of 2006; hold galas for the presentation of Ischia Awards and the Premio Isabella Rizzoli, an honor initiated by film producer Marina Cicogna.
Among prizes to be presented at Ischia will be honors to the 2006 Oscar winners Paul Haggis (Best movie and Coleen Atwood (best costumes for “Geisha” and to the 2006 Oscar nominee Dario Marianelli (music score of “Pride & Prejudice”)

THE SYMPOSIA OF THE CINEMA
The popular writer/producer/director Paul Haggis, who has worked with such global superstars as Clint Eastwood, will preside over the 1st International Symposium on Screenplay in the Cinema.

ISCHIA GLOBAL, A CERTAINTY OF THE ITALIAN CINEMA
"With its original formula for focusing on new markets and total creativity, and thanks to the unparalleled natural location on the Green Island, the Ischia Global Fest already is among the international film and music events of great interest and world-wide prestige," said Giancarlo Carriero, president of the Ischia International Academy of Arts. "This established event of the Italian cinema from its first 3 editions has welcomed world-wide participation of industry stars like Francis Ford Coppola, Alan Parker, Neil Jordan, Val Kilmer, Dennis Hopper, Norman Jewison, Taylor Hackford, Joseph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham, Brenda Blethyn, Gerard Butler Jean-Claude Van Damme, Shekhar Kapur, Peter Greenaway, Anita Ekberg, Stefania Sandrelli and opera singer Andrea Bocelli "
