Larry Holden's Independent Film Company Auctioning Role

Holden Automotive, an independent film company run by writer/director/executive producer Larry Holden, best known for his supporting roles in the films of Christopher Nolan ("Memento," "Insomnia,"and "Batman Begins"), is once again taking an unorthodox approach to funding its current feature film production by offering a role in an upcoming production through an online auction on eBay.

In 2004, with less than two weeks to go before "Tucked In His Knuckles"(then known as "Through East Texas") was set to begin, the sudden withdrawal of a major investor left the production in a huge bind. And then, only an hour later, and only seconds after former producer Adam Shea jokingly suggested auctioning off a role on eBay, Holden and his gang did exactly that. Shea remembers, "There was an instant and incredible response. And by the time that it was all over, the auction had been visited by over 50,000 folks from around the world, Larry's hands were literally swollen from personally replying to thousands and thousands of emails from potential bidders, an actress got the chance she'd been waiting years for, and the production didn't miss a beat."

But this time, Holden and gang aren't in a jam (yet) financially. Or otherwise, for that matter. Both of films they've released have been critically acclaimed, and Holden was recently named one the "great contemporary American filmmakers" by world renowned writer, critic, and scholar, Ray Carney. Nope, now they're using the eBay auction to both officially announce their next project, "All Sun And Little White Flowers," and to begin their fundraising process, not save it.

Says Holden, "We found a great actress, and we raised a little cash last time. Well, enough to keep my wallet from committing suicide at least. So how could we not try it again? Plus, I promised all those kindhearted maniacs who wrote me after losing the auction that we'd do it again, that I'd give them all another shot. So, well, there ya go, independent film financing for the less fortunate - them, and me!"
