Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival line up

The Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival announces the line up for 2008 festival September 11-14th, in Vineyard Haven, MA. Produced by the Martha's Vineyard Film Society, the MVIFF will screen 30 international features and documentaries and two Short Film programs. Several filmmakers will be in attendance. Among the high profile films selected are: Irena Salina's Flow, For Love of Water (Opening Night), Lucy Walker's Blindsight, Ellen Kuras's The Betrayal, Liz Mermin's Shot in Bombay, Vincent Paronnaud's Persepolis, Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg, Francesca Povoledo's The Orchestra of Piazza Vittorio, Adrian Belic's Beyond The Call, Tony Gerber & Jesse Moss's Full Battle Rattle, William Luther's Miss Navajo and an animated shorts program with the infamous Bill Plympton.

The laidback island atmosphere of Martha's Vineyard, combined with its' diverse population of artisans, philanthropists, political and cultural leaders makes it the ideal location for this ambitious festival. Now in its third year, the MVIFF has become a destination in the Northeast, with over 50% of festival 3000+ attendees coming in from off island.

"We'll continue to strengthen our mission of shining a light on different cultures and places in the world. Having an appreciation of how others live and their hopes and dreams makes us better global citizens and helps us deal with universal issues and concerns" says Richard Paradise, MVIFF Co-Director. "We might not always have the time or means to travel the world, so we hope our audiences will be entertained, stimulated and inspired by the films we bring to them at the MVIFF in 08."

The films will be screened at various theaters, all within walking distance from Main Street in Vineyard Haven. In addition to the films, numerous events have been planned in support of the festival.
